Hi, everyone! Welcome back to the blog. We’ve got a book review this week! This is definitely a different one than I usually review, but it’s by a group of guys that I’ve really grown to love over the years. Let’s go!
So, for those of you who don’t know, The Try Guys are (from left to right) Keith, Eugene, Zach, and Ned. They started making YouTube videos for Buzzfeed under the name The Try Guys, “trying” pretty much everything under the sun. They eventually left Buzzfeed to start their own company called 2nd Try. They now produce their own videos including new “tries” and more personal videos about their lives. They now have a merch line, a successful stage show that just completed a national tour, and a self-help book.
When I first bought the book, I was skeptical of it being labeled as “self-help.” I knew the book would be funny, for sure. All four guys have great chemistry together and know how to make their audience (and each other) laugh. While they’ve had some emotional videos in the past, I didn’t know if they could turn it into a full book.
Boy, was I wrong. Now, this book isn’t for everyone, for sure. If you aren’t a fan of them, you probably won’t understand half of what they’re talking about. This book is definitely for their fans and anyone in the millennial/Gen Z space. If you are a fan of these guys, BUY IT. The guys talk about the ins and outs of some of their most famous videos along with their personal lives and struggles. In complete honesty, it’s because of Keith’s section on health that I got myself a gym membership!
I don’t want to give too much detail because I want you guys to READ THE BOOK…but I can say for sure that I had some teary moments while reading. Between you, me, and the ghostlight, it’s a funny, heartfelt book with a great message: failure is good!
Until next time!
