Hello again, blog lovers! So before we get into my review of School of Rock, I have a few updates on me!
- First of all, I’ll soon be starting my second semester of grad school at Pace University. I couldn’t be more excited! I loved my first semester and really look forward to what my new classes can teach me.
- Along with my new semester, I’ll be starting an internship at a literary agency! It’s the first step in my publishing career and I can’t wait to get started.
- Lastly, and possibly most exciting, I am doing theatre again! It’s wonderful to have a creative outlet again. Even as an adult, it’s nice to be ridiculous sometimes.
ANYWAY. last week I saw School of Rock on Broadway with my boyfriend. We both loved the movie and, since the show is closing in January, figured now was as good a time as any to see it! I had heard plenty of hype about it from family and friends, but wondered if it could really hold a candle to the original.
It was EVERYTHING. They kept a lot of the big lines and jokes, which I really appreciated. The kids can SHRED. They had amazing musical ability and were talented little actors. The actors playing Dewey and Rosalie were equally talented with great voices. They were able to stay true to the original character while adding their own personalities.
The music was what I found to be the most impressive. The songs from the original movie were still there, just as rockin as ever. The new music added onto the story and was believable. The best part of it was the energy. Everyone on stage and in the audience fully bought into the silliness of it, which is fun to see! Between you, me, and the ghostlight, you should get a ticket to this full-on Broadway show with a full-on AC/DC concert feel!
That’s all for now, bloggers! Tune in next week for another review!
